Whether you’re snacking on acai berries or strawberries, there are many foods we can include into our diet for optimal health and superior benefits. With high levels of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, it’s a no brainer that we should be eating these foods, but where do we begin? Below are 5 ways to eat more superfoods and how to include them into your diet.

1. Make a Superfood Salad

One of the simplest and freshest ways to eat more superfoods, is to load them up in your salad. Begin with a basic salad with a mix of greens, then start tossing in more superfoods. Add in some chia seeds, flax meal, berries, nuts, sprouts, beans, avocados and more! The possibilities are endless. You can also add in some heart-healthy salmon, topped with a homemade vinaigrette or dressing of choice. Plus, making a homemade dressing gives you the opportunity to add in even more superfoods.

2. Make your own snacks

Superfoods are great for snacking on their own, but they can also be transformed into mouth-watering treats. For starters, superfood powders can be incorporated into to just about anything from baked goods to frozen treats. You can also make you own trail mix filled with goji berries, cacao nibs and nuts or homemade granola bars with oats, nuts and honey!

3. Have a smoothie everyday

Smoothies are also one of the easiest ways to include more superfoods into your diet. Start with a simple base of frozen fruit, yogurt (optional) and water, then toss in some of your favorite superfoods. This is also an excellent way to load up on greens and the not so tasty superfoods in your life. For color, flavor and some extra antioxidants, make sure you toss in some berries or an avocado for healthy fats and protein.

4. Stir into Soups

Soups are a great way to incorporate more things like turmeric, kale, veggies and legumes in the diet. Toss some kale into your favorite fall stew or load up on turmeric in your next curry dish. The best thing about soup is that almost anything goes. Whether it’s a chicken noodle or veggie based soup, superfoods of all kinds can be tossed in. Herbs and spices are also an excellent addition to soups, especially for warding off colds and flu. Brothy soups are especially great, as they are low in calories and jam packed with nutrition.

5. Be creative

Be creative with your meals and have fun. Rich in carotenoids, spaghetti squash and zoodles (zucchini noodles) are an excellent alternative to pasta. While grated cauliflower works as a great substitute for pizza crust. You can also use lettuce for wraps, tacos, and burgers. Or make your own homemade veggie burger’s, filled with quinoa, peppers, herbs and more!
