1 – You’re not getting enough nutrition

Nutrition is at it’s utmost importance when you are trying to lose weight, not only macro but also micro nutrients.  Yes, it’s important to watch your calories, carbs, etc., but equally as important to focus on getting enough Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Omega 3’s, fiber and calcium.

Buying products that say things like “natural”, “low-carb”, “low-fat” and “fat-free” can actually mean the exact opposite. Reading and understanding ingredient labels is key during weight loss and also to maintain a healthy weight. Stick to real, whole-foods with minimal ingredients to ensure your body knows exactly what to do with it.

3 – You’re forgetting about exercise

30 minutes per day minimum of activity is crucial for weight loss.  Exercise should always be something you enjoy, so find fun activities that don’t always fit into the “workout” category.

4 – You’re not cooking enough

Always know when you are cooking at home, you have control of what is going into your food. When you prepare and cook your own meals, you are choosing your ingredients, controlling the salt, calories, carbs, etc.

5 – You’re sources are wrong

Browsing the internet for weight loss tips can be deceiving because there is both good and bad information available. Find a few sources that you trust for inspiration, tips and recipes. Stick to these sources until you can develop a healthy lifestyle change that works for you.

 6 – You’re skipping meals

By eating 3-6 smaller meals per day (depending on your body + needs), including healthy snacks, you are ensuring that you will be able to make smarter choices when it comes to eating.

7 – You don’t have the right foods on hand

Preparing meals at home is a great choice because you are in control of what you’re eating. However, if you don’t have healthy snacks on hand at home, work, and on-the-go you are more likely to snack on the wrong foods.

8 – You’re not drinking enough water

Drinking water is by far one of the most important aspects of weight-loss for many reasons. Water benefits weight loss by boosting metabolism and fat-loss, cleansing and detoxifying the body, and increasing your energy levels.
