Use protection. 

Even if the weatherman has predicted partly cloudy skies, our skin is still at risk. Whether it’s partly cloudy or sunny and bright, the dangers of exposure to harmful UV rays are high. While we all enjoy being out in the sun, UV rays can lead to premature aging, dark spots, sun spots, sagging and decoloration. In some cases, too much sun exposure may lead to skin cancers.

These consequences are something we want to avoid in the present and future. So, to make sure our skin stays healthy and protected from the sun, always leave home with a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher to be safe. For best results, opt for an organic, eco-minded sunscreen this summer to avoid added ingredients.

Hydrate

Hydration is a must when you first wake up. Not only does it improve metabolism, cleanse the digestive track and wake up our senses, but it also improves skin health! Start each morning with a warm cup of water and a splash of lemon juice to purify the body, eliminate toxins and reduce skin sensitivities.

That little boost of vitamin C in the morning will also fight off free-radicals in the body, resulting in healthy, glowing skin. While the water hydrates, which leads to acne prevention and clean skin.

Exfoliate. 

Exfoliation is essential for healthy, radiant skin. Whereas lack of exfoliation causes dead skin skills on the surface of our skin, resulting in a dull looking face. To achieve your healthiest looking skin, it is recommended that we exfoliate biweekly, with a soft scrub that doesn’t dry out the skin.

You can create your own scrub by mixing equal parts of baking soda and water. Once you have made the paste, massage on and around the face for at least 1 minute before rinsing off with warm water and patting dry. This mixture does a great job at removing unwanted dead skin cells while also promoting a fresh, glowing look. Plus, it is affordable and easy to use.

Use a toner. 

Using a toner is essential to your skincare routine. After cleansing, applying a toner can help balance your skin’s PH levels, helping promote an even skin tone.

Soap-based cleansers tend to be more alkaline, which can disrupt the acid mantle on the skin, When this occurs, it can lead to abnormal bacterial growth and the skin becomes more susceptible to wrinkles, disease, and infection. Toners, however, are more acidic, which restores the skin to it’s natural pH.

While we should be using a toner regularly, store bought brands often contain harmful chemicals, parabens, and additives, which can cause harm to the skin overtime. For a natural, safe toner, consider apple cider vinegar.

Mix one part ACV to four parts filtered water and apply it directly to the skin with a cotton ball. Choose raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar for a natural way to balance the skin’s pH. This can also break up the bond between dead skin cells to keep the pores open, may lighten age and sun spots, prevents acne and improves acne scars.
