Superfoods are health-boosting foods with an especially high nutritional profile. They are believed to lower the risk for disease, improve immune function, digestion health, and may add years to our lives. However, getting superfoods into your diet doesn’t have expensive, especially when you’re willing to grow them from home. You can easily grow them in your garden or even in a pot near a bright window. Below are our favorite ordinary superfoods you can grow from home.


WHAT MAKES IT SUPER: Carrots are rich in the chemical compound, polyacetylenes, which is thought to help reduce the growth of cancer cells. They are also rich in fiber and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body.

HOW TO GROW: Carrots can be grown in a large pot or in the ground from seed or plant. Keep tall weeds pulled, as they may compete with the carrots. 


WHAT MAKES IT SUPER: These plump berries are packed with anthocyanins, as twice the amount of vitamin C as blueberries, which is needed for healthy skin and bones, as well as healthy cells.
