Organic Coffee Certifications

To obtain organic coffee certification, coffee farmers must use only natural, non-toxic fertilizers and pest management techniques on their farms.

The Organic Coffee Co. proudly grows their our own coffee on beautiful, bio-diverse, organic coffeeorganic coffee farms. They are all 100% organic coffee farms in several countries. In 1999, they made a commitment to their longstanding philosophy blending sustainable coffee cultivation and social responsibility.

“Shade Grown Coffee” is a way of growing coffee in concert with nature. They plant their coffee trees in and among a forest canopy of native trees rather than in full sun. The yield on each tree is lower since there is not as much sun. However, the quality of the coffee is much better.

Terra Preta Fertilizer

Terra Preta organic fertilizing is a method of creating very dark rich soils that are overflowing with carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus. Researchers have claimed it can increase crop yields by more than 300% and it is a carbon neutral or negative source for fertilizer.

Worm Composting

Earthworms! The Organic Coffee Co. implements worm composting programs around the world and turning coffee pulp into rich, organic fertilizer for the new crop.

Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA) International is one of the world’s oldest, largest and most trusted leaders in the organic certification industry. A nonprofit, member-owned, agricultural organization, OCIA is dedicated to providing the highest quality organic certification services and access to global organic markets. The USDA Organic certificate is allowed based on registration with an Organic certification 3rd party. The Organic Coffee Co. uses OCIA as their certifying 3rd party.

USDA Certified Organic

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, organic certificate verifies that the product was produced using organic production and handling standards, and is at least 95 percent organic. The Organic Coffe Co. is 100% organic coffee.
