What are GMOs? GMOs, or Genetically Modified Organisms, are plants or animals created through the gene splicing techniques of biotechnology (also know as genetic engineering, or GE). The experimental what are gmostechnology combines DNA from different species, creating unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding. GMOs are the source of Genetically Modified Foods.

Genetically Modified Foods are transgenic plant products: soybean, corn, canola, and cotton seed oil. These may have been engineered for faster growth, resistance to pathogens, production of extra nutrients, or any other beneficial purpose.

Most all commercial GMOs are engineered to withstand direct application of herbicide and/or to produce an insecticide. So basically you can spray this so called deadly weed killer directly on plants without killing it. Despite biotech industry promises, none of the GMO traits currently on the market offer increased yield, drought tolerance, enhanced nutrition, or any other consumer benefit. In a more simple term GMOs are bad and very unhealthy.

Meanwhile, a growing body of evidence connects GMOs with health problems, environmental damage and violation of farmers’ and consumers’ rights.

GMOs cross pollinate and their seeds can travel forever. It is impossible to totally clean up our contaminated gene pool. Self-propagating GMO pollution will outlast the effects of global warming and nuclear waste. The potential impact is huge, threatening the health of future generations. GMO contamination has also caused economic losses for organic and non-GMO farmers who often struggle to keep their crops pure.

Are GMOs safe?

Let’s start with certain side affects caused by GMOs. GMOs have been known to cause Birth Defects, Hormone Disruption, Allergies, Cancers, Autism and Digestive problems. So are GMOs safe?
GMOs are not only harmful to the environment but VERY harmful to our bodies. By mixing genes from very unrelated species, genetic engineering(GE) unleashes many unpredictable side effects. That being said, the type of genes that are inserted and the very process of creating GM plants can result in huge collateral damage that produces new toxins, allergens, carcinogens, and nutritional deficiencies. Most GM crops are loaded with harmful chemicals(Very toxic weed killers).
Between 1996 and 2008, US farmers sprayed 383 million pounds more of herbicide on GMOs. Overuse of Roundup will result in “superweeds,” resistant to the herbicide. This is causing farmers to use even more toxic herbicides every year.


Where to find GMOs?

Currently commercialized GM crops in the U.S. include
soy (94%), cotton (90%), canola (90%), sugar beets (95%), corn (88%), zucchini and yellow squash (over 24,000 acres).

Other products including oils from all four, soy protein, soy lecithin, cornstarch, corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup.

  • meat, eggs, and dairy products from animals that have eaten GM feed (and the majority of the GM corn and soy is used for feed);
  • dairy products from cows injected with rbGH (a GM hormone);
  • food additives, enzymes, flavorings, and processing agents, including the sweetener aspartame (NutraSweet®) and rennet used to make hard cheeses;
  • honey and bee pollen that may have GM sources of pollen.
  • and many fruits and vegetables

Fact: GMOs have not been proven safe, and the long-term health risks on humans of genetically modified foods have not been adequately investigated. GMOs are unsafe.

GMOs are found in 80% of food today. We are all aware if the harm that can be caused from GMOs. Try to keep your family and friends away from GMOs by spreading this message.
